An Apology and An Explanation

To all our valued forums members,
Our forum here at Schools for Chiapas has recently been over-run with spam and spammers. We know we are a popular site but when our forum membership swelled to over 4,000 members in a matter of weeks, we realized that something was wrong. Sadly, the "bots" used by spammers to register and post spam had evolved while our forum protection against spammers had stayed in the dark ages. As a result, we had literally thousands of bogus email registrations. I have just looked through 100's of pages of e-mail addresses trying to spot the spammers. I am sure that the result is far from perfect. Undoubtedly I have left some spammer email in the list AND I have deleted some of you who are legitimate forum members.
Therefore an apology is in order. IF you are (or were) a registered forum member and you find you can not sign in, it is probably because I have inadvertently deleted your address. PLEASE RE-REGISTER! We want to have your participation!
We think we have tweaked our spam guard so that it will be more difficult for spammers to enroll but... in order to minimize the possibility that your email address will be inadvertently deleted in the future, please use a name which suggests a real person (spammers typically use an array of nonsense letters) when you register.
We also apologize for the spam that got through to the forums. We at Schools for Chiapas work hard to try to try and prevent the spam we have occasionally found buried in a pages of this forum. Again, we think we have tweaked our spam guard in a way that provides a reasonable balance between allowing relatively easy access to legitimate users AND keeps spammers out but... we know the system is not perfect and we ask your forgiveness should you find spam on the forum. Please alert our administrators if you do find an entry that has snuck past our filter.
Finally, we want to thank all of you who have taken the time to register and post to our forums... or just registered and taken a look around. We hope you will check back often.
Por un mundo donde quepan todos los mundos,
Susan
