We'll e-mail a full-color certificate to you or the gift recipient stating, "A tree has been planted in your name in an autonomous, indigenous Mayan communities of Chiapas, Mexico.  Schools for Chiapas and the Zapatista communities of Chiapas, Mexico thank you for your contribution to saving our Mother Earth by planting trees."  In addition, a beautiful “Thank You” card will be mailed to you or to every person you honor with this meaningful gift.  (Please tell us - in the “COMMENTS” section of your checkout - where we should send the email document and the snail mail gift card.)

How many trees can we plant with your donation?  Frankly, we aren’t exactly sure.

We’ve seen web sites that promise to plant an enormous number of trees for very little money – and those web sites are often about “selling” carbon credits.  However our beginning experience tells us that planting trees that will actually SURVIVE is time, labor, and cash intensive.  As an estimate, we anticipate that each mature tree now costs us about $2.50 – see below for a breakdown of some of the expenses.  Perhaps in the future we’ll be able to bring down these costs.

For now, here is a listing of a few ways your gift will help plant trees in Chiapas:

~    $10 purchases 200 planting bags for tiny trees.
~    $15 supplies a pitch fork for turning compost.
~    $25 grows and plants ten fruit & rainforest trees.
~    $35 provides a fruit tree grafting kit for one eco-agricultural promoter.
~    $50 buys a hand-pump sprayer for organic pesticides and fertilizers.
~    $100 puts a fence around a small community tree nursery.
~    $120 ($10 per month) buys education supplies for a nursery education program.
~    $600 ($50 per month) provides food and transportation for one tree workshop every month in Chiapas, Mexico.
