Zapatista Corn Replanting Celebration

Sunday, June 27, 2010  ~  2pm – 4pm

World Beat Center, Balboa Park, San Diego, CA

It's a party!  It’s a celebration!  It’s a pot-luck!  It’s a seed swap!  Bring some food, bring a musical instrument, bring a few seeds, bring games for the kids, bring your family, bring a chair, and bring yourself!

Also please sign the online petition supporting Zapatista efforts to win a GMO-free Chiapas:

A beautiful GMO-free corn field garden planted on Earth Day 2010 in solidarity with the Zapatista movement of Chiapas, Mexico has been destroyed by vandals in San Diego, CA, USA. We believe this attack to be a hate crime motivated by the same anti-immigrant and anti-Mexican hysteria which is sweeping the country.

The corn seed for this planting was donated by Mayan farming families in order to publicize their resistance to genetically modified (GMO) corn and to seek sanctuary for their heritage corn seed which is threatened with GMO contamination. The now destroyed, but deeply symbolic “Zapatista Milpa Garden”, is located near the World Beat Center in the center of Balboa Park, San Diego, CA, Planet Mother Earth.
