Violent Escalation Raises Fears in Chiapas
On August 29 and 30, 2008 Zapatista small farming families once again faced a serious escalation in the disturbing pattern of violence which has swept Chiapas in recent months. The latest attack by armed paramilitary forces occurred in the autonomous municipality of Olga Isabel and resulted in the wounding of 43 year old peasant Mariano Pérez Guzmán. Escalada de la Violencia en Chiapas
En el 29 y 30 de Agosto, 2008, familias Zapatistas enfrentaron otra ves una escalada grave en la paterna inquietante de violencia aumentando aquí en Chiapas. El ultimo ataque desde paramilitares armadas, ocurrió en el municipio autónoma de Olga Isabel y resulto en la hería de Mariano Pêrez Gomes, un campesino de 43 años.

Zapatista Neem tree plantings increase across Chiapas
This summer many Zapatistas worked with Schools for Chiapas to plant Neem trees throughout Chiapas. Neem (Azadirachta indica), which has a 4000 year history of medicinal, domestic, and agricultural uses worldwide, supports Mayan health and ecology projects.
