Ok, so we got down to San Cristobal and met up at this cool little Hostel on Sunday morning. I wasn't the first there so I was relieved to see others waiting to meet up. Slowly everyone arrived and we did some getting to know you stuff before going out to socialise. Lucky for us there was a party going around the church on top of the hill, Celebrations for St Cristobal I think, there was a ferris wheel and all!
It was great fun and we all went back to the hostel later and talked about what we were doing and who we were until about 2am I guess. The next day was eggs for breakfast and the combi ride out to Oventic. Depite the fumes and a few hairy corners we got there ok with only a couple of the group feeling carsick. The combi I was in beat the other one there by a few minutes - so I'm overly competitive about these things, it's a minor personality fault.
We all piled out and waited to be checked in by our Zapatista hosts - the real ones I promise - and had a coke or two, I was surprised they sold the stuff and it was all they had. After about half an hour and much pouring over one persons passport we were all allowed into the community and were promptly shown the auditorium where we would be sleeping, at least for the first night.
So began the most amazing two weeks of my life, witht the most amazing group of people you could ever hope to hang out with.
